1/32 Yakovlev Yak-3 "Normandie-Niemen" HI-TECH
The Special Hobby 1/32 Yakovlev Yak-3 “Normandie-Niemen” HI-TECH is a plastic kit of the Soviet fighter aircraft. Resin, photo-etch, masks and decals for five aircraft of the French regiment complete it. Paints and glues are not included.
The Yak-3 was developed by the A. S. Yakovlev design bureau as a light fighter for combat at low altitudes and entered service in summer 1944. The French fighter regiment Normandie-Niemen, which fought on the Eastern Front alongside the Soviet air force, converted to the Yak-3 in 1944 and scored the last 99 of its 273 aerial victories with it. In June 1945 the regiment returned to France with its aircraft.
The kit contains five sprues of grey plastic and a clear sprue with two canopies – a one-piece closed version and a three-piece version with the hood slid back. The HI-TECH content consists of resin wheels, exhausts, machine guns, radio, rudder pedals and other small parts, a small photo-etched fret with seatbelts and vinyl masks. The Eduard-printed decals cover five Normandie-Niemen aircraft from 1944–1945, including those of Marcel Albert, Roland de la Poype and Louis Delfino.
The 1/32 scale shows off the cockpit detail as well as the French tricolour on the spinner and rudder, contrasting with the Soviet national insignia. Paints and glues required for assembly are not included.
