Dornier Do 335 B-6 Night Fighter in 1/32 scale by HK Models depicts an experimental night fighter variant of this unique German aircraft. The Do 335 was one of the fastest piston-powered aircraft of World War II, reaching speeds of over 770 km/h thanks to its innovative twin-engine push-pull configuration.
The B-6 Nachtjäger version was developed for night fighter operations to counter Allied bombers and RAF Mosquitos. Major modifications included:
- Second crew member - rear cabin extended to accommodate radar operator
- Installation of FuG 217 Neptune radar - to detect enemy targets at night
- Reinforced armament - two MG 151/20 and two MK 103 30mm guns for effective attacks on bombers
- Removal of the external hangers - for aerodynamic optimization
Although the Do 335 was technologically revolutionary, only a few units entered service as the Luftwaffe was unable to complete the project on a large scale due to the advancing Allies and a shortage of materials.
This 1/32 scale model offers precise detail and a wide range of build options:
- Detailed cockpit with two seats and realistic controls
- Two Daimler-Benz DB 603 engines with the option of an open configuration
- FuG 217 Neptune radar antenna array on the nose of the aircraft
- Accurate reproduction of armament, including MG 151/20 and MK 103 guns
- Detailed landing gear section with hydraulic systems
- Fine fuselage and wing paneling, matching the historic machine
Unique design, technological innovations and the rarity of the night fighter variant make the Do 335 B-6 Night Fighter an idealThe ideal choice for modelers interested in advanced German aircraft and WWII experimental projects.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
