Vallejo Wash FX 76521 Oiled Earth Color (35 ml)
Vallejo Wash FX 76521 Oiled Earth (35 ml) is Oiled Earth from the Vallejo Wash FX range. A water-soluble wash that will highlight panel lines, joints, and small details, helping to create a natural patina on your model.
Vallejo Wash FX 76521 Oiled Earth (35 ml) is an acrylic wash from Vallejo Wash FX in the Oiled Earth finish. It is used to simulate accumulated dust, earth, dried operational traces, and natural dirt on vehicles, equipment, chassis, and dioramas.
Dust and earth washes work well as a localized filter around chassis, wheels, tracks, lower hull areas, and on terrain. Apply in thin layers, increasing intensity only where dust would naturally accumulate.
Technical Information and Recommendations
- Type: Water-based acrylic wash with a matte finish
- Volume: 35 ml
- Use: Panel lines, rivets, joints, shadows, dust, rust, dirt, and operational weathering
- Application: Fine brush, localized application into joints, or a thin layer as a filter
- Surface: Best controlled on a satin or glossier surface; it soaks in more on a matte surface
- Intensity Adjustment: Clean damp brush, water, or carefully with Airbrush Thinner 71161
- Previous Layers: Model Color, Model Air, or Surface Primer
- Further Weathering: Weathering FX, pigments, and Diorama FX
- Sealing: Matt Varnish or Satin Varnish depending on the desired finish
- Tools: model brushes
It is better to use the wash gradually. One thick layer often creates blotches, while multiple thin layers allow for better control of contrast, dirt, and the resulting depth of detail. For cleaner work, it is advisable to protect the model with a satin or gloss varnish before applying the wash.
