Shade: Nuln Oil is one of the most popular and widely used shading colours in the Citadel range. This specially formulated acrylic paint is designed to make the process of painting miniatures as easy as possible for the less experienced modeler. Nuln Oil produces dark, almost black shadows that are ideal for metal surfaces, weapons, armor, mechanical details and technical elements of models.
The principle of shade colors is their liquid consistency and surface tension - when applied to the model, the paint flows spontaneously into depressions, folds, seams and details to create natural shading. This enhances the edges, textures and three-dimensionality of the figure without the need for laborious layering or wet mixing of paint. Nuln Oil is versatile - it can be applied over lighter base colors (such as gray, silver or beige) to achieve a metallic look with shading, or used over the entire model to unify the color scheme and deepen contrast. The paint is compatible with a range of Citadel paints and techniques, including layering, dry brushing and edge highlighting.
The pack contains 18 ml of paint. It is advisable to shake the bottle before use. The paint can be applied with a brush directly to the desired areas or to the entire model. Once dry, it produces a matt to semi-matt finish that can be further modified or protected with varnish.
