Italeri 6554 - M978 Fuel Servicing (1:35)
Italeri 6554 M978 Fuel Servicing Truck 1:35 is a plastic kit of the fuel tanker version of the HEMTT 8x8. It depicts a U.S. Army logistics vehicle built for fuel supply work rather than a combat subject. The finished model is 297 mm long, and this updated release adds color instructions, new wheel rims, rubber tires and decals for 2 versions.
Italeri 6554 M978 Fuel Servicing Truck 1:35 depicts a dedicated tanker variant from the HEMTT family, the Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck. This heavy eight-wheel-drive vehicle entered U.S. Army service from the mid-1980s and was developed for transport and support duties in demanding terrain.
The fuel support version
Unlike cargo-bodied HEMTT trucks, the M978 is configured for fuel servicing. Its tanker body carries more than 9,500 liters, placing it firmly in the logistics chain rather than among front-line combat vehicles. Vehicles of this type were also used in Iraq and Afghanistan.
What you get in the box
The kit is produced in 1:35 scale and builds to a finished length of 297 mm. This updated edition includes a color instruction sheet, new wheel rims and rubber tires. Decals for 2 versions are also provided, offering a choice of markings for the completed model.
Why this subject stands out
The M978 brings the supply side of modern military operations into a 1:35 collection. It suits convoy, base and support scenes centered on recent U.S. Army equipment. The kit is rated at difficulty level 4.
