Information about the original:
In 1980, the German automaker from Ingolstadt unveiled its new two-door Audi Quattro coupe at the Geneva Motor Show. It was produced throughout the 1980s, and its Italian name emphasized its key feature: all-wheel drive. At that time, all-wheel drive was a truly significant innovation for a vehicle designed to achieve high sales figures. The “Quattro” guaranteed good handling combined with excellent traction on any surface. The longitudinally mounted front engine was capable of delivering impressive performance. A racing version was also developed, which debuted in the World Rally Championship in 1981 and achieved strong results. The success of the “Quattro” model continues to this day, to the extent that the Italian name has become a true “brand” that identifies Audi’s entire latest lineup of all-wheel-drive vehicles.
