Information about the original:
The Volkswagen Golf is an iconic car designed and manufactured by the Wolfsburg-based automaker. It was first introduced in the spring of 1974 and immediately achieved significant commercial success. The first generation (1974–1983) offered the highly discerning consumer market of the time cutting-edge technical features, including a front-mounted, water-cooled engine, front-wheel drive, and a sturdy, robust body with a functional yet attractive design. However, the real “competitive advantage” that made the Golf so successful was its excellent value for money. At the 1975 Frankfurt Motor Show, the sporty Golf GTI was unveiled, featuring a powerful 1,600 cm³ engine producing 110 koní. Mass production of this model began the following year, and within just two months, it achieved remarkable commercial success in many European and non-European countries. The version used by the German police in the 1970s and early 1980s was one of the symbols of everyday life during that era.
