Information about the original:
In order for Porsche to compete in FIA Group 5 auto racing, the company developed a series of special cars characterized by specialized engines and chassis. The famous 911 Turbo was at the forefront of this effort. Several versions of this model were produced, but one of the most famous was the Porsche 935J. “Baby,” as it was often nicknamed, was built for races in the German National 2-Liter Championship (Deutsche Rennwagen Meisterschaft). Among other things, it featured a lighter chassis utilizing a space frame made of aluminum tubes. Thanks to this design, the car’s total weight was reduced to 735 kg, bringing it into compliance with competition regulations. It was powered by an air-cooled, 1.425-liter engine producing 261 kW. The Porsche 935J achieved a significant victory in 1977 at the German Grand Prix at the Hockenheim circuit, where the outstanding performance of its engine and the effectiveness of its design solutions were clearly demonstrated.
