The Lockheed Martin-Boeing F-22 is a 5th-generation “stealth” fighter jet of the U.S. Air Force. It is an exceptionally innovative design. The “Raptor” is equipped with two Pratt & Whitney F119 turbofan engines with afterburners capable of generating thrust with a variable vector thanks to movable exhaust nozzles, which significantly increase maneuverability. Its stealth capability is ensured by its aerodynamic profile and the use of cutting-edge materials that minimize radar detectability. Its evasion capabilities are further enhanced by a sophisticated design of the air intakes and exhausts, which reduce heat signature from exhaust gases as well as noise emissions. Air-to-air and air-to-ground weapon systems are installed in internal fuselage bays to further minimize radar detection. The aircraft’s avionics are exceptionally advanced and capable of detecting, tracking, and engaging targets even at long ranges.
