Information about the original:
The Junkers Ju 87 Stuka was a two-seat dive bomber and ground-attack aircraft. It first took to the skies in 1935 and made its combat debut in 1936 as part of the Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil War. It was easily recognizable thanks to its inverted gull-wing design and fixed landing gear. In addition, its design incorporated several innovative features, including automatic aerodynamic brakes under both wings, which ensured that the aircraft could recover from a dive even if the pilot lost consciousness due to G-forces. During the early stages of World War II, the Stuka quickly became an icon of the German “Blitzkrieg,” providing effective support to the Wehrmacht’s armored divisions. The Luftwaffe also used it during the Battle of Britain, where, however, its weaknesses became apparent when faced with faster and well-armed modern aircraft such as the Hurricane and Spitfire.
