Information about the original:
The single-engine F-86 Sabre jet aircraft was developed by the American aircraft manufacturer North American Aviation in the late 1940s. It became a key aircraft in postwar military aviation. It was recognizable by its swept-back wings and large front air intake. It was powered by a General Electric J47 jet engine. For its time, it possessed impressive flight capabilities and performance that were unmatched by wartime propeller-driven aircraft. Its armament consisted of six 12.7 mm Browning machine guns mounted inside the forward fuselage. The U.S. Air Force made extensive use of the Sabre. It played a key role particularly in the Korean War, where it proved capable of effectively countering the Soviet Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 in the very first aerial dogfights in history. The F-86 proved to be a highly effective aircraft, thanks to which many American pilots earned the status of flying aces during combat missions over Korean territory.
