    Information about the original:
    At the start of World War II, the U.S. Army had at its disposal light and lightly armed vehicles, known as reconnaissance vehicles, for advanced reconnaissance operations. The M-8 Greyhound armored car, developed during the war and characterized by enhanced protection and heavier armament, represented a turning point for the U.S. Army. The vehicle provided greater operational flexibility, and thanks to the 37mm cannon mounted in its turret, it could be used more effectively to support ground troops. It was first deployed on the Italian front from Monte Cassino to Anzio and later participated in D-Day operations in June 1944. Although the terrain in Normandy proved challenging and demanding in the early stages of the operation, the M-8 was later praised particularly for its speed and versatility. The M-20 variant was developed from the M-8 to perform Military Police duties and serve as a command vehicle.
