Information about the original:
The single-engine AMX “Ghibli” ground-attack aircraft was the result of a joint project between the Italian and Brazilian aerospace industries. The project was launched in the 1980s with the goal of replacing the Italian Air Force’s obsolete Fiat G-91Y fighter-bomber. The Brazilian Air Force also needed to replace its Italian-made MB-326 aircraft. The AMX’s aerodynamics featured a high-swept wing design, and thanks to its Rolls-Royce Spey 807 engine, the aircraft could reach a maximum speed of 1,000 km/h. The Italian version was armed with a 20-mm M61 cannon and could carry a payload of 3,800 kg. The Ghibli was deployed on several operational fronts (e.g., Afghanistan, Libya), where it performed advanced reconnaissance missions and also provided close tactical support to ground forces.
