Information about the original:
The F-4 Phantom II, developed by the American aircraft manufacturer McDonnell Douglas, is a two-seat, all-weather supersonic fighter-bomber. It entered operational service in the 1960s and is one of the most famous aircraft in the history of military aviation. The original design was developed specifically for the U.S. Navy, but it was ultimately used by all branches of the U.S. military and achieved significant commercial success worldwide. The F-4E variant, developed specifically for the U.S. Air Force, was equipped with an M61 Vulcan cannon mounted in the nose, which could be supplemented with AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-9 Sparrow air-to-air missiles for air superiority missions. Thanks to its two powerful General Electric J-79 jet engines, the F-4E variant was capable of reaching a maximum speed of 1,240 knots. Speed, thrust, and reliability were the Phantom II’s greatest strengths, and they successfully offset its poorer maneuverability caused by its large size.
