AK Oil Paints Cassel Earth / Shadow Brown (20 ml)

AK Interactive AKABT015 Oil Paint Cassel Earth / Shadow Brown (20 ml) is an ABT502 series oil paint for modelers in the shade " Kassel Brown" / "Shadow Brown." Oil paints have a long working time, providing excellent control for shading, blending, filters, washes, drips, and subtle surface blending. The ABT502 series is designed for model-making: the paint is highly pigmented, spreads easily, and, after wiping off excess oil, creates a more natural, less glossy effect than standard art oils.

The Kassel Brown / Shadow Brown shade is best used for dark brown shadows, wood, leather, clay, and deeper patinas. It works well on military vehicles, airplanes, ships, figures, fantasy miniatures, and in wargaming, where it helps quickly add depth to details and create natural color transitions.

Recommended Procedure

1. Ideally, apply to a well-dried and varnished acrylic or lacquer base. A glossy or satin varnish will make it easier for the paint to run into crevices, while a matte finish holds the pigment better.
2. For a wash or filter effect, dilute the paint with a suitable thinner for oil and enamel effects. For streaking, apply small dots or lines and use a clean brush to pull them in the direction of rain, dust, or airflow.
3. For blending and miniatures, work with a very small amount of paint. Soften the transitions with a clean brush or a brush lightly moistened with thinner.
4. Allow the paint to dry for a longer period than with acrylic paints. Thicker layers of oil paint may take several days to dry.
