Airfix German E-Boat (1:72)

The German fast torpedo boats of the Schnellboot type (referred to as E-Boat in Allied nomenclature, from the English "Enemy Boat") were among the Kriegsmarine's most effective coastal assault craft during World War II. These boats were designed for rapid night attacks against Allied convoys, patrol vessels and coastal traffic, with torpedoes supplemented by gun and anti-aircraft guns as their main weapon. The Schnellbootes were characterized by their sturdy wooden hull construction, powerful diesel engines allowing speeds of over 40 knots, and relatively long range, making them a formidable adversary in the North Sea, the English Channel, and the Mediterranean. The crews of these boats carried out risky missions in hostile waters, often in direct contact with British MTB torpedo boats and patrol forces.

The 1:72 scale Airfix kit offers a detailed treatment of this type of vessel with a total of 290 parts, allowing the characteristic elements of the model to be faithfully captured - hull shape, torpedo tubes, gun turrets, bridges, lifeboats and deck details. The length of 448 mm corresponds to the dimensions of the real Schnellboot and provides sufficient space for fine details and possible addition of crew figures. Difficulty 3 assumes some experience with gluing, painting and possibly highlighting details (panel lines, wear, sea water).
