Information about the original and the model:
After a short but intensive training period, a group of elite volunteer pilots—who formed the new RAF No. 617 Squadron—took off on the night of May 16–17, 1943, from RAF Scampton and set out on the most daring bombing raid in history.

They were led by the enigmatic and inspiring commander Guy Gibson, who reportedly declared: “This squadron will either go down in history or be completely erased from it.” Nevertheless, every one of his men was determined to play his part in this historic aerial feat. Nineteen “special” Lancasters and their crews sent a message to the German people that not even their propaganda ministers could obscure.
