Information about the original and the model:
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVIII is based on the Mk.XIV variant powered by a Rolls-Royce Griffon engine, but features a number of improvements over that model. These included a modernized cockpit and increased fuel capacity, as well as reinforced wings that allowed the aircraft to carry rockets or bombs, in addition to armament such as cannons and machine guns. These high-performance Spitfires were deployed during Operation "Firedog" and also in combat against communist guerrillas during the Malayan Civil War.

The F Mk.XVIII was a variant of the famous fighter aircraft that represented the result of efforts to produce a “Super Spitfire.” It was a further refinement of the Mk.XIV aircraft powered by a Rolls-Royce Griffon engine, but unlike its predecessor, it received a whole range of improvements. In addition to several modifications to the cockpit, the F Mk.XVIII also benefited from increased fuel tank capacity and reinforced wings, which allowed it to carry rockets or bombs in addition to cannons and machine guns. A total of 300 aircraft were produced, with the RAF receiving two versions: the F.Mk.XVIII, equipped with a standard E-wing, and the FR.Mk.XVIII, which was fitted with photographic reconnaissance equipment. These high-performance Spitfires were developed too late to see action in World War II; they were first deployed during Operation “Firedog” and later in the fight against communist guerrillas during the Malayan Civil War.
