1/72 J2M3 Raiden

A detailed description of the Mitsubishi J2M Raiden (Allied codename ‘Jack’): this was a Japanese single-seat fighter aircraft designed primarily for defence and for engaging enemy bombers. Unlike the famous A6M Zero, which emphasised manoeuvrability and range, the Raiden was designed as an interceptor (interceptor) with an emphasis on rapid climb rate and high speed, which made it an aircraft with a distinct design philosophy. The J2M3 version was among the most widespread and frequently deployed variants and was characterised by enhanced armament. For modellers, the Raiden represents an interesting and less common choice amongst Japanese fighters, with its characteristic robust fuselage and powerful engine.

The Sword 1:72 scale kit is a glue-up model supplemented with resin parts (PUR), which allow for a finer and more detailed finish on selected parts than is usually possible with injection-moulded plastic alone. The kit also includes masking sheets, which make it easier to precisely mask the cockpit canopy and other surfaces during painting. Modellers can choose from two livery variants, allowing them to build the aircraft in a different configuration according to their own preferences.

The 1:72 scale is practical for both building and storage, whilst also allowing the distinctive features of the prototype to stand out. For this Japanese naval fighter, it is customary to emphasise the panel lines, operational wear and tear, and soiling consistent with intensive combat deployment. The kit does not include the paints or adhesives required for assembly.
