1/48 Spitfire Vb Late recommended for Airfix
Yahu Model 1/48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb Late is a photo-etched color instrument panel designed for the cockpit of the late version of the Spitfire Mk.Vb fighter. The part is pre-coloured and ready for direct assembly using JustStick technology. It is designed as an exact upgrade for Airfix, Hasegawa and Tamiya 1:48 scale kits.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb was one of the most widely used variants of the famous British fighter in the first half of World War II. A later version of this type, designated "Late", brought a number of minor operational modifications based on RAF combat experience - including changes to the cockpit layout and instrumentation. The pilot's instrument panel included the standard set of flight and engine instruments typical of Rolls-Royce Merlin 45-engined machines: speedometer, altimeter, turn indicator, inclinometer, tachometer, oil and fuel pressure gauges, and more. The exact panel design varied according to production series and operational deployment - machines serving in North Africa or Malta may have carried different configurations to those operating over Western Europe.
The 1:48 scale photo-etched Yahu Model panel is made of brass sheet with a colour overprint that faithfully reproduces the appearance of the actual dashboard, including dials, hands and labels. JustStick technology allows for easy assembly without the need for complicated gluing - the panel is ready to be fitted directly into the cockpit. The kit is designed for Airfix, Hasegawa and Tamiya 1:48 scale kits and is a direct replacement for the plastic part from the original package. The result is a significantly more believable and detailed cockpit interior without the need to paint the instruments by hand.
