1/48 Spitfire I recommended for Airfix
Yahu Model 1/48 Spitfire I is a set of etched dashboards for the Airfix Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I kit in 1:48 scale. The parts are colour pre-printed and self-adhesive coated (JustStick technology), so they do not require gluing or additional painting and are ready for direct assembly into the kit. The kit is designed exclusively for Airfix kits.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I entered service with the RAF in 1938 and became one of the key British fighter aircraft of World War II. Its cockpit was fitted with an instrument panel to late 1930s RAF standards - with speed, altimeter, tachometer, oil pressure and temperature, fuel gauge and turn and bank instrument. Control of the flaps was pneumatic, and cooling of the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine was provided by a manually operated radiator. This basic instrumentation remained essentially unchanged on the Mk.I throughout production, whether it was the Mk.IA variant with eight .303 machine guns, or the cannon Mk.IB.
The 1:48 scale Yahu Model kit replaces the plastic instrument panels from the Airfix kit with precision-machined etched parts. The parts are colour pre-printed directly onto the metal and have a self-adhesive coating - JustStick technology eliminates the need for glue and additional painting. The result is a significantly more believable cockpit appearance with legible instrument scales and spatial depth that plastic castings cannot offer. The kit is designed specifically for Airfix kits and is ready for immediate assembly.
