1/48 Po-2 / U-2 LNB recommended for ICM

The Polikarpov Po-2, originally designated U-2, was a Soviet biplane designed by Nikolai Polikarpov in the late 1920s. Although it was designed as a basic trainer, it became famous during World War II as a nighttime harassment bomber. Thanks to its canvas covering, low speed and quiet engine, it was able to operate undisturbed at night over German positions - radar virtually did not pick it up and fighters had problems with it because of its extremely low flight speed. It was in this role that he made history, especially with the 588th Night Bomber Regiment, composed entirely of women and nicknamed the "Night Witch" by the Germans. In total, over 40,000 were produced, making the Po-2 one of the most mass-produced aircraft in history.

The LNB (Legkiy Nochnoj Bombardirovshchik - light night bomber) variant carried bomb racks for bombs, usually FAB-50, under the lower wings, and a defensive weapon could be installed in the rear cabin. Cabin instrumentation was deliberately simple, corresponding to Soviet doctrine of the time and the conditions of night operations from field airfields.
