1/48 P-47N-2RE Thunderbolt basic kit

The P-47 Thunderbolt is one of the most famous American fighter aircraft of the Second World War. This robust aircraft, powered by a high-performance Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine, proved its worth both as an escort fighter and in attacks on ground targets. The P-47N variant was developed in response to the specific requirements of the Pacific theatre, where the distances between islands placed significantly greater demands on the aircraft’s range than European operations. Compared to previous variants, the N version was fitted with a new, extended wing with square tips, which allowed for the installation of larger fuel tanks and an increase in the total fuel capacity. The result was an aircraft capable of escorting bombers on very long routes or operating independently on deep raids behind enemy lines. The P-47N-2RE sub-variant featured the standard R-2800-57(C) engine configuration and was one of the first mass-produced examples of the new version to see operational service.
