1/35 M3 STUART HYBRID

The M3 Stuart is one of the most widely used and recognisable light tanks of World War II, and the variant designated as the M3 Stuart Hybrid represents an interesting transitional design that combines features of both early and later production. 'Hybrid' in this context means that design features typical of different production seasons meet on one vehicleThis is reflected in the character of the hull and turret, giving the tank a different silhouette from purely early or purely late versions. The attraction for modellers is that at first glance it is a Stuart, but on closer inspection it can be seen that it is not a completely "bland" design.

In operational deployment, the Stuart was mainly used where speed, agility and reliability were important - i.e. in reconnaissance, escorting columns, flanking, liaison duties and as light infantry support. In both North Africa and Europe, the light tank proved its limits against heavier opponents, but at the same time it couldcan be very useful in roles where mobility, rapid reaction and the ability to move across the battlefield and over more difficult terrain are critical. As a result, the M3 has appeared in American and Allied service in a variety of units and camouflages, giving great scope for choosing a particular machine and fitting it into a scene.
