1/35 Kfz.1 German Troop Carrier Type 170VK
The Kfz.1 Type 170VK was a light off-road vehicle developed for the Wehrmacht based on the Mercedes-Benz 170V chassis. Thanks to modifications for all-wheel drive and reinforced components, it served during the 2. World War II as a multi-purpose vehicle for troop transport, liaison and staff duties on various fronts. The Kfz.1 Type 170VK was one of the light off-road vehicles developed for the Wehrmacht based on the civilian Mercedes-Benz 170V chassis, but modified for heavier military use. With the addition of all-wheel drive and the reinforcement of selected components, it was a practical "working" car that was also designed to cope off paved roads. Within the German army it fulfilled the role of a universal car for everyday service, where mobility, simplicity and the ability to operate in field conditions were important.
In practice, the 170VK was used as a liaison, staff and light transport vehicle, and on various fronts of World War II it accompanied troops during movements and normal operations in the rear. It is this versatility that makes it an attractive subject for dioramas - it suits figures, field equipment and scenes from the rear, where the characteristic silhouette and "utilitarian" appearance of German light vehicles stands out.
