1/35 Kampfgruppe Hansen Battle of the Bulge

Kampfgruppe Hansen was one of the combat groups formed within the 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler for the purposes of Operation Wacht am Rhein – the German Ardennes offensive launched on 16 December 1944. The group was commanded by SS-Obersturmbannführer Max Hansen and its task was to break through the Belgian Ardennes towards the west, as part of a broader German attempt to turn the tide of the war on the Western Front. The fighting took place in extremely harsh winter conditions – severe frost, snow and rugged terrain placed extraordinary demands on the soldiers’ equipment and gear. It is precisely this episode that ranks among the most intensively covered themes of the late phase of the Second World War in diorama modelling.

The figures are dressed in winter gear typical of the period – padded coats, camouflage cloaks or white winter overalls, helmets with fabric covers – and are equipped with period-appropriate weapons and gear. The 1:35 scale is standard for figures and allows for a natural combination with most available vehicles and accessories in the same scale. When painting the figures, a combination of acrylic or enamel paints is typically used for the base coat, subtle shading and highlighting of equipment details, or effects of mud and snow corresponding to Ardennes conditions. The pack does not contain the paints or adhesives required for assembly.
