The 30.5 cm large-caliber mortar was manufactured by Škoda Works between 1907 and 1911. In 1912, this weapon was adopted as the M.11 Mörser. The Austro-Hungarian Army entered World War I with 24 units of this powerful weapon. The combination of high firepower with the weapon’s relatively low weight of 32.9 metric tons and the ability to transport it disassembled into three parts was unique, and this weapon had no competition anywhere in Europe. As a result, these mortars were used not only by the Austro-Hungarian Army on the Russian and Italian fronts, but also by the German Army. The German army borrowed four batteries, each consisting of two guns along with their crews, and successfully deployed them during the capture of fortified strongholds in Belgium (Namur, Liège, Antwerp, and Givet) and in shelling the French fortresses of Verdun and Toul, as well as the Osowiec Fortress on the Eastern Front. A highly detailed model of this weapon was created using 3D modeling and 3D printing. It represents the absolute pinnacle in the field of cast models. The model can be assembled either in a firing position with the barrel raised or with the barrel in a horizontal position, as when the howitzer was being loaded. The breech can be glued in either the closed or open position, and a shell can be inserted into the open breech. The shell was fed into the breech via a loading mechanism from a two-wheeled cart. The cart was guided to the mechanism by a rail conveyor and is included with the model.
The resin parts require trimming, test fitting, and gluing with a suitable adhesive. Paints, adhesive, and tools are not typically included in the package.
