1/32 N1K2-j George recommended for Hasegawa

The Kawanishi N1K2-J Shiden kai, codenamed "George" by the Allies, was one of the best Japanese fighter aircraft of the final phase of World War II. It was developed as an improved ground version of the original N1K1 Kyofu floatplane fighter, and was redesigned to address the shortcomings of its predecessor - primarily landing gear instability and complex manufacturing. The N1K2-J had a lower wing, shorter undercarriage and overall simplified design, making it an agile and well-armed machine capable of facing American fighters such as the F6F Hellcat or F4U Corsair. In practice, the Shiden kai was used in the defence of the Japanese islands, and in the later stages of the war it became one of the few types that could at least partially match the technological superiority of the Allies. For modellers, it is an interesting type in terms of camouflage, armament and cockpit details, reflecting the Japanese approach to fighter ergonomics and instrumentation.
