1/32 McDonnell Douglas F-4B / N Phantom II

The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is one of the most significant and best-known fighter aircraft of the 20th century. It was a two-seater, twin-engine, supersonic multi-role aircraft, originally developed by McDonnell Aircraft for the United States Navy. It entered service in 1961 and quickly became a symbol of the jet fighter era. It was characterised by its performance, large weapons payload and ability to perform a wide range of tasks — from an interceptor designed to defend airspace to a fighter-bomber capable of attacking ground targets in all weather conditions.

The F-4B was the first variant of the Phantom to be actively deployed in combat. Powered by a pair of jet engines, it was capable of carrying a substantial amount of armament and became one of the main aircraft types used by the Navy and the Marine Corps. The Phantoms were used extensively by the Air Force, the Navy and the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and subsequently throughout the 1970s and 1980s. The later F-4N variant was developed by modernising older F-4B aircraft, enabling the Phantom to retain its combat effectiveness even in the later years of its service. For modellers, the Phantom II is particularly appealing due to its versatility, rich combat history and wide range of interesting colour schemes from various squadrons and units.

The Redpill Models kit captures this legendary aircraft in an impressive 1:32 scale, which perfectly captures the size and massiveness of the Phantom and represents a standout piece for both collectors and large-scale modellers. The model is produced using brand-new moulds and modern plastic injection moulding technology, offering high-quality surface details with finely engraved panelling, delicately rendered rivets and scale-accurate embossed textures. The cockpit, exhaust nozzles and landing gear bays are rendered with a high degree of precision. The parts are divided into 14 sprues, organised according to the aircraft’s main structural assemblies, which makes it easier to navigate the build and work with the individual sub-assemblies.

The model offers a range of build options: folding wing tips and movable flaps and slots. The kit includes metal landing gear legs, designed to support the full weight of the completed model, as well as rubber tyres and pre-cut paint masks for the cockpit (8 parts). There is also a wide range of external load options — auxiliary fuel tanks (both fuselage-mounted and for external wing pylons), 8× AIM-7 Sparrow guided missiles (4× AIM-7E / AIM-7E-2 and 4× AIM-7F) and 4× AIM-9 Sidewinder guided missiles with a choice of AIM-9D, AIM-9G/H or AIM-9L/M variants.

The multimedia kit is complemented by three multicoloured 3D decals with an exceptional level of detail — these include the cockpit interior (instrument panels, side consoles and seatbelts), ‘Remove Before Flight’ (RBF) and textured walkways on the wings. Also included is high-quality painting and decal documentation with a sheet of technical stencils and markings for three different aircraft: the F-4B Phantom II of VF-151 Vigilantes from the USS Midway (CV-41) from 1972 (USN), the F-4N Phantom II of VF-84 ‘Jolly Rogers’ from the USS Roosevelt in 1974 (USN) and the F-4B Phantom II of VMFA-321 ‘Hell’s Angels’ from MCAS Yuma in 1981 (USMC). The kit does not include the paints or adhesives required for assembly.
