Our most precise 3D construction and 3D printing of the highly detailed Martin Baker M.B. Mk.2E seat represents the pinnacle of current possibilities in model accessories. With the utmost care and attention to every detail, this seat has been designed and printed to most faithfully reproduce the actual ejection seat used in modern military aircraft.

Martin-Baker Mk.2E Ejection Seat, History and Characteristics:

The Martin-Baker Mk.2 series represented a massive leap in pilot safety during the early 1950s. While the Mk.1 required the pilot to manually trigger the parachute and unbuckle after ejection, the Mk.2 introduced automation.

The Mk.2E variant was specifically tailored for the Gloster Meteor F.8 and its derivatives. Its defining feature was the automatic deployment system, which used a barostatic time-release mechanism to separate the pilot from the seat and deploy the parachute, significantly increasing the chances of survival at lower altitudes. It utilized a telescopic 80-foot-per-second ejection gun to clear the Meteor's "T-tail" stabilizer.

Modeling Guide: Colors and Materials

Component Recommended Color / Finish Description
Main Structure Satin Black The frame, rails, and main seat bucket were made of steel and aluminum, almost always painted black.
Padding / Seat Pan Olive Drab or Khaki The backrest and seat cushions were made of heavy-duty canvas. These often faded from dark green to a brownish-tan.
Harness (Straps) Buff / Light Tan The safety straps were typically a light beige or "buff" color. Early versions could also be a light grey-blue.
Headrest Dark Brown or Black Usually finished in leather or heavy vinyl.
Firing Handle Red / Yellow Stripes The "face blind" handle above the headrest featured the iconic high-visibility warning stripes.
Survival Pack Olive Green or Yellow Located in the seat pan. It often featured a yellow "lanyard" or dinghy attachment strap.

Key features and benefits of our Martin Baker M.B. Mk.2E seat:

  1. Extreme level of detail: thanks to advanced 3D modelling and printing techniques, we are able to capture even the smallest elements of the real ejection seat. This includes all the control levers, panels, padding and even the surface texture. Every element is designed for maximum accuracy and fidelity to the original.
  2. Our 3D modelling is based on available reference materials and technical drawings, ensuring a high degree of conformity to the real thing. Every part of the seat is designed to fit perfectly, making it easy for modelers to assemble.
  3. High quality 3D printing. The resulting print is solid, detailed and ready for further processing (e.g. dyeing).
  4. Universal use: Although this seat is primarily intended for Revell's aircraft kits, its precise dimensions and high level of detail make it suitable for use in other manufacturers' kits that depict aircraft equipped with the M.B. Mk.2E seat. This gives modelers the opportunity to significantly enhance the interiors of their models regardless of kit brand.
  5. Easy integration: the seat is designed to make installation into the cockpit as easy as possible. Modelers receive clear instructions and the seat is usually supplied as one or a few parts, minimizing the difficulty of assembly.
