Italeri 1441 F-5A Freedom Fighter depicts the early production form of Northrop’s lightweight fighter, developed in the 1950s as a simple and affordable aircraft for several NATO member air forces. Compact dimensions, agility, and economical operation helped the F-5 family spread quickly among many operators.
The F-5A carried the Freedom Fighter name and was powered by two General Electric J85-GE-13 engines. Maximum speed reached 1,700 km/h. Its armament combined two 20 mm nose-mounted cannons with the ability to carry additional weapons, allowing the aircraft to serve in both air-defence and ground-attack missions.
