The paint has a thick consistency ensuring good coverage and even application. The pack contains 12ml of paint. Base: Balthasar Gold is an acrylic base paint from the Citadel Base range, specially developed for painting Games Workshop miniatures. Balthasar Gold offers a deep, dark golden hue with a rich metallic effect that serves as an ideal base for painting gold and brass surfaces on miniatures, vehicles and terrain.
The Base range paints are formulated with a higher pigment concentration and thicker consistency, ensuring excellent coverage in the first coat. Balthasar Gold is particularly suitable for painting armour, weapons, jewellery, seals, decorative elements, sculptures and architectural details. The dark gold tone allows easy layering of lighter gold shades such as Gehenna's Gold or Auric Armour Gold, creating a natural shadow effect for realistic metallic surfaces.
The colour is compatible with techniques such as layering, dry brushing and glazing. For an even more pronounced metallic effect, Balthasar Gold can be applied over a black or brown base coat. Combination with wash paints such as Reikland Fleshshade or Agrax Earthshade will accentuate depressions and add depth and dimensionality to gold surfaces.
