AK Vegetation - Laser-cut Realistic Plants Fern

Ferns are one of the oldest and most distinctive elements of terrestrial vegetation. Their complex leaf structure (called fans) has always been a challenge for modellers. AK Vegetation - Fern (AK8134) solves this problem with a high-tech CO2 laser that carves even the finest details of the foliage into special material. The result is plants that, unlike plastic mouldings, have no dividing plane and appear completely organic.

From a historical point of view, these ferns are indispensable for depicting scenes from European forests (from the Ardennes to the Eastern Front), from the fighting in the Pacific or in Vietnam. The fern adds an immediate vertical dimension and a sense of wetness to the diorama. It is great for masking the position of anti-tank guns, for enlivening the surroundings of forgotten bunkers or as a dominant element on the bases of large fantasy and historical figures.

Technical details and tips for modellers

This kit is designed for maximum visual impact while maintaining ease of handling.

• Scale and versatility: 32, but the ferns look great in larger figure scales(54 mm, 75 mm, 90 mm) and their softness does not offend even in detailed 1:48 scale dioramas.

• The plants can be easily removed from the sheet. To achieve a natural shape, we recommend to carefully shape (bend) the leaves with tweezers so that they do not appear flat.

• Fixation. The use of AK118 Gravel & Sand Fixer is absolutely ideal and will ensure a firm bond without visible traces of glue.

• Colouring: The plants are already in a basic realistic colour, but can be further shaded with airbrush, filters or drybrush for maximum depth.

Important note: The kit does not contain paint or glue. This is a complementary set for advanced landscape modelling.
