Eagle's fern(Pteridium aquilinum) is one of the most widespread ferns in the world. In nature, you can recognise it by its typically large, stiff leaves, which often form large and dense stands reaching over one metre in height. AK Vegetation - Bracken Fern (AK8136) brings this specific plant into the world of modeling with unprecedented fidelity. Unlike common fern species, the Bracken Fern has a more branched structure, bringing visual variety to your diorama.

This product is indispensable for historically accurate dioramas from temperate environments. It will complement scenes from the forests of central and western Europe (e.g. the Battle of Normandy or the Ardennes), but will work equally well for depicting Asian jungles or North American wilderness. The hash adds a sense of impenetrability and depth to the scene, making it ideal for camouflaging equipment, artillery emplacements or for covert infantry movements.

Kit details and application tips

Thanks to CO2 laser technology, the sheets are cut with microscopic precision, without any burrs typical of plastic mouldings.

• Scale and proportions: the plants are ideally sized for 1:35 and 1:32 scales. However, due to the fineness of detail, they are also very popular with modelers working in 1:48 scale or with creators of large figures(54 mm, 75 mm, 90 mm).

• Shaping for realism. In nature, the fireweed has slightly inclined fans, which is achieved by bending the stems slightly.

• Forfixing, we recommend using a small amount of white glue (PVA) or the specialist AK118 Gravel & Sand Fixer. Thanks to its fluidity, the fixer penetrates the root system of the plant and ensures a firm connection to the mat without leaving shiny marks.

• Self-adjustment: Plants come in a realistic green color, but you can further tone them down with filters or pigments to show dusting or the first signs of autumn yellowing.
