1/32 TBD-1 Devastator one-sided express fit mask for Trumpeter
ASK Express Fit masks for the TBD-1 Devastator in 1/32 scale, one-sided and intended for the Trumpeter plastic kit. A sheet of masks numbered up to 82 covers the outside of the long, heavily framed canopy of the three-man crew.
ASK designed the dozens of masks itself, directly from the panes of the long canopy of the Trumpeter TBD-1 Devastator kit in 1/32 scale. Sheet ASK 200-M32083 from the SCALE MASK range is filled with dozens of narrow rectangular and trapezoidal masks for the individual panes, plus triangular masks and a few small parts – a reflection of the Devastator's long greenhouse canopy with its many frames. The double-sided version, with a second sheet for the inner side, is 200-M32084.
The Douglas TBD-1 Devastator was the US Navy's first widely used carrier-based monoplane, entering service in 1937. By 1942 it was obsolete, and its squadrons suffered heavy losses at the Battle of Midway. The masks are intended for the Trumpeter kit in 1/32 scale.
