1/72 USN F-14D “VF-2 Bounty Hunters”

The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a legendary U.S. Navy fighter aircraft that served from the 1970s until 2006. With its variable wing geometry, powerful armament, and advanced radar system, the F-14 was a key machine for air superiority and carrier protection.

The F-14D variant, nicknamed the "Super Tomcat", was the last modernization of the aircraft. Compared to previous versions, it had improved AN/APG-71 radars, a cockpit with modern avionics, more powerful General Electric F110-GE-400 engines, and the ability to nota wider range of weapons, including the AIM-54 Phoenix, AIM-7 Sparrow and AIM-9 Sidewinder cruise missiles.

The VF-2 "Bounty Hunters" unit operated with the F-14D in the 1990s and early 2000s, including a deployment in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. After the retirement of the Tomcat, the squadron was converted to the F/A-18F Super Hornet.
