The MiG-21UM is a two-seat trainer version of the MiG-21, which began production in the late 1960s as an upgrade of previous training variants. Compared to these, it was equipped with better avionics, a more powerful engine and the ability to carry basic armament, allowing realistic training of new pilots on modern jet fighters. The UM (Uchebno-Modificirovannyy) version was exported to many countries and served in the armament of virtually all MiG-21 users.
In the Czechoslovak and later Czech Air Force, the MiG-21UM was for many years the basic training type for jet fighter pilots. The aircraft is characterized by an extended cockpit overlap, preservation of the aerodynamic profile and adaptation for learning to control supersonic machines.
The 1/72 kit from Kovozávod Prostějov offers an accurate model of this variant with fine details, engraving and optional camouflage schemes. It is intended for both lovers of Soviet aviation technology and those who are into Czechoslovakian-themed models.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
