1/72 Lockheed Hudson

The Lockheed Hudson was built following a British order in 1938, when the RAF urgently needed a modern patrol aircraft for Coastal Command. The American Lockheed company modified its civilian transport, the Model 14 Super Electra, for military use - the result was a compact, agile and well-equipped twin-engined aircraft for its time. The Hudson was one of the first American combat aircraft delivered to Britain under pre-war contracts and soon became the backbone of coastal defence.

The machine served in many roles, from anti-submarine patrols off the British Isles to reconnaissance and light bombing to transport and airborne operations. The Hudson earned a reputation as a reliable aircraft with good range and solid construction, while its crews appreciated the combination of endurance and agility that allowed it to survive even in the harsh conditions of the Atlantic. Hudson aircraft took part in the Battle of the Atlantic, the Far East and operations in North Africa, among others.
