1/72 Gotha Go 244B-1 German Transport Aircraft
IBG's 1/72 scale model of the Gotha Go 244B-1 is a German WWII transport aircraft, a powered version of the original Go 242 glider, designed for cargo and airborne transport. The B-1 version was equipped with BMW 132Z engines and served on the Eastern Front and in the Mediterranean area. The kit includes detailed plastic parts and authentic decals. The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
The Gotha Go 244 was developed as a modification of the Go 242 glider, developed for the Luftwaffe as a means of transporting paratroopers, weapons and supplies. Due to the need for independently operating transport aircraft, part of the Go 242 was converted to a powered version, which bore the designation Go 244.
The Go 244B-1 version was powered by two BMW 132Z radial engines and had an improved landing gear configuration. The aircraft was used in limited numbers on the Eastern Front, the Balkans and the Mediterranean, mainly for supply and transport duties. However, due to its vulnerability to enemy fighter aircraft, it was deployed cautiously and later replaced by more powerful machines.
The IBG 1/72 Gotha Go 244B-1 kit features precision-machined plastic parts, realistic cargo bay interior, cockpit and landing gear parts. Also included are decals for the historically accurate markings used by the Luftwaffe.
This model is ideal for modelers interested in the lesser known transport equipment of the German WWII air force.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
