1/72 Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 Jagdgeschwader 301

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9, nicknamed "Dora", was developed in response to the deteriorating high altitude performance of the older Fw 190 versions. The installation of the Junkers Jumo 213 inline engine greatly improved the aircraft's flight characteristics, especially speed and climb performance, making it one of the best German fighters of the last period of the war. The D-9 version was deployed primarily in 1944-1945, taking part in the defence of the Reich against Allied bomber formations as well as fighting over the front.
