The model brings detailed surface treatment, authentic shapes and the opportunity to build a machine that served in the US Marine Corps units even in the post-war period.
The Grumman F7F Tigercat was a powerful twin-engine fighter aircraft designed for the U.S. Navy that entered service at the end of World War II. Although it never saw active service in the war, it became an important type in the post-war years and was valued for its speed, agility and versatility.
The F7F-3N version was a night fighter variant that received the APS-6 radar built into the extended nose. This modification allowed the Tigercat to perform the role of a night fighter and engage enemy targets in limited visibility conditions. The machine was inducted into the US Marine Corps armament and proved its worth in providing air defence as well as attacking ground targets.
The 1/72nd scale Fly Model kit faithfully depicts this specialized variant with all its distinctive features. Fine surface details and authentic proportions complement the decals for the historically documented machines. The model is suitable for modellers who want to add an interesting night version of the Tigercat from the post-war period to their collection.
The package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
