Due to its excellent handling and good flight characteristics, the DFS Kranich II became the standard training glider of the German Luftwaffe during World War II. In addition to its military use, it also served in civilian aero clubs throughout Europe, where it was used for training, competitions and record-breaking flights. After the war, it was licensed to various countries and served until the 1950s.
