1/72 DH.98 Mosquito NF Mk.XXX ‘Night Predator’

De Havilland DH.98 The Mosquito, nicknamed the "Wooden Miracle", was a British multi-role twin-engine aircraft that was one of the best aircraft of World War II. Its construction was an all-wood, sandwich construction, with fuselage and wing parts made by laminating sandwiches of plywood and balsa wood. It was originally designed as a fast, unarmed bomber, but its exceptional speed and maneuverability led to the development of many variants, including day and night fighters.

The NF Mk.XXX variant was one of the most important and powerful versions of the Mosquito designed for night interception. It was developed from the Mk.XIII version and used Rolls-Royce Merlin two-stage engines (Merlin 76 or Merlin 113/114), which provided excellent performance at high flight levels. The NF Mk.XXX was equipped with AI Mk.X (or US AI Mk.IV, or British Mark VIII, IX and X kits) radar, which was located in the aircraft's distinctive radome tip, and enabled the detection and tracking of enemy bombers at night. Its primary armament consisted of four 20mm Hispano guns mounted in the fuselage and four Browning .303 (7.7mm) machine guns in the nose. This combination of armament and radar made the Mosquito NF Mk.XXX a feared "night predator". It was capable of effectively destroying enemy bombers over Britain and Europe, even at high flight levels.
