1/72 Blackburn Skua Mk.II
1 : 72 scale plastic model kit of British two-seater Blackburn Skua Mk.II from Special Hobby. Includes detailed frames, decals and excellent workmanship - the perfect choice for modellers looking for an interesting WW II British fighter/bomber.
The Blackburn Skua Mk.II was a British airborne two-seat fighter and light bomber aircraft of the late 1930s and early 1940s. It was the first all-metal monoplane designed for service with the Fleet Air Arm - a revolutionary design that combined the capabilities of a fighter and dive bomber.
The Skua entered service in 1938, and soon after the outbreak of World War II it was involved in combat over the North Sea and Norway. Among the most famous actions was the sinking of the German cruiser Königsberg in April 1940 - the first successful carrier-based attack on a heavy surface force. Although the Skua soon became obsolete, it went down in British naval aviation history as an important step towards modern deck-based aircraft.
