1/48 UH-60A Black Hawk MEDEVAC

The Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk is one of the most widely used multi-purpose helicopters of its kind and, since entering service, has become the backbone of the United States’ helicopter fleet. It has served and continues to serve in a wide range of roles – from transporting personnel and equipment, through tactical support, to specialised missions. It is the MEDEVAC (Medical Evacuation) variant that represents one of the most important roles of this aircraft: the rapid evacuation of the wounded from the battlefield and their transport to medical treatment. Helicopters in this configuration are equipped with space for stretchers and medical equipment, thereby significantly increasing the wounded’s chances of survival. For modellers, the MEDEVAC variant offers an attractive combination of a well-known prototype and a specific, humanitarian-focused application.

The ICM kit, in 1:48 scale, is a glue-together model with a high number of parts (285 + 32 + 25), allowing you to build a model with a detailed interior corresponding to the medical version. The pack also includes 6 figures, which can be used to bring the whole scene to life and set it in context – for example, whilst loading the wounded or operating the helicopter. Measuring 414 × 111 mm, the model can serve as a standalone display piece or as the basis for a diorama depicting a medical evacuation.

The 1:48 scale is particularly popular for helicopters and smaller aircraft, as it offers the ideal balance between the model’s size and the level of detail that can be achieved. With this type of model, subtle highlighting of the panelling, operational grime and wear and tear consistent with intensive service are typically applied, whilst the figures feature meticulous painting of uniforms and equipment. The pack does not contain the paints or adhesives required for assembly.
