The Kyushu J7W1 Shinden ("Lightning") was one of Japan's most daring aviation projects during World War II. It was developed at the end of the war as an ambush fighter designed to defend against Allied B-29 bombers. The machine had an unusual layout with forward horizontal surfaces (the "duck concept") and an engine located in the rear of the fuselage that powered a pusher propeller. This configuration was intended to provide excellent manoeuvrability, high speed and good visibility from the cockpit.

The Shinden was powered by a Mitsubishi Ha-43 2,130 hp radial engine and was to be armed with four 30mm Type 5 guns mounted in the nose. The first prototype flew on 3 August 1945 and showed exceptional potential, but the end of the war halted all development. By then only one flying example had been built, which today is one of the most valuable exhibits of Japanese aviation heritage.

The 1/48th scale Zoukei Mura kit from the "Super Wing Series" features a realistic interior, engine, landing gear and structural details that faithfully reflect the original prototype. Modelers can appreciate the accuracy of the fuselage rendering, fine surface engraving and the ability to build with open sections to display the internal mechanisms. This model is ideal for anyone interested in experimental and prototype aircraft of the late WWII era.

The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
