1/48 Hurricane Mk I
The Hawker Hurricane Mk I in 1/48 scale by Arma Hobby is a brand new design for 2025. This legendary British fighter aircraft, which played a key role in the Battle of Britain, is rendered here with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. The kit features a newly designed fuselage, wings, radiator and propeller, complete with a detailed cockpit and clear parts taken from the successful Hurricane Mk IIb. Also included are cockpit and wheel masks, Techmod decals with four WWII-era schemes, and a download code for 3D accessories.
The Hawker Hurricane Mk I was one of the main fighter aircraft of the British Royal Air Force at the beginning of theWorld War II and the first modern RAF type with retractable landing gear and an enclosed cockpit. Despite the traditional construction of a steel tubular airframe with canvas covering, the Hurricane managed to combine best practice with modern aerodynamics. Propulsion was provided by a Rolls-Royce Merlin II or III engine of approximately 1,030-1,300 hp, enabling the aircraft to reach speeds of over 500 km/h.
The Hurricane Mk I was simpler to manufacture and maintain than the more famous Spitfire, allowing the RAF to deploy it in large numbers in the decisive Battle of Britain in 1940. While the Spitfires were battling German fighters, the Hurricanes destroyed most of the Luftwaffe's bombers and became the backbone of British air defence.
The new Arma Hobby 1/48 scale kit features three late versions of the Hurricane Mk I with all-metal wings and Rotol propellers, produced by Gloster Aircraft between May and October 1940. The box contains four frames (two of which are brand new), masks for the cockpit and wheels, Techmod decals with four camouflage schemesincluding Robert Stanford Tuck and Josef Frantisek's machines, detailed instructions in English and Polish, and a code to download the accessories in 3D format.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
