Hawker Typhoon Mk. IB was one of the key British fighter aircraft of World War II, although its path to success was not straightforward. Originally intended as a high-performance fighter for high-altitude combat, the Typhoon actually established itself as a low-flying attack aircraft and fighter-bomber. Its powerful Napier Sabre engine gave it excellent low- and medium-altitude speed.which made it a formidable opponent to the German Fw 190 fighters in attacks over the Channel and the coast of Europe. Later, the Typhoon became legendary for its role in supporting the Normandy invasion and destroying German ground equipment with rockets and bombs.

The Mk. IB, designated "Car Door", represents an early production run from 1942, which featured the distinctive side cabin doors. This door, which opened in a similar way to a car, was intended to make entry and exit easier for pilots, but in practice proved to be structurally problematic - it often jammed in a crash, making escape impossible. It was therefore later replaced by a sliding hood. This early configuration is of interest to modellers because of its specificity and historical significance as a symbol of a transitional period in the development of the aircraft.

The Hobby 2000 kit uses a high quality mould by the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa, known for its precise workmanship and good surface detail. The added value lies in the decal markings from the Italian company Cartograf, one of the leaders in the field - the decals are thin, faithfully reproduced in colour and react well to softeners, which facilitates their application on panelled surfaces. The package also includes a masking kit that simplifies painting of glazed parts of theand prevents paint bleeding onto clear plastic, greatly improving the final appearance of the model.

Scale 1:48 is popular for fighter aircraft because of its versatility - the model is large enough for detailed work (cockpit, landing gear, armament), but at the same time is not too demanding for space in the display case. For the Typhoon, there are several approaches to completion: from a clean display model with fine panel lines and matt paint to a slightly worn machine with faded camouflage to a heavily used aircraft with distinctive traffic marks, exhaust stains from the Sabre engine and dust from field airfields. In addition, the early "Car Door" version allows you to view the aircraft when it still wore the standard RAF daytime fighter camouflage (Dark Green / Ocean Grey over Medium Sea Grey underside) with 1942 unit codes.

The package does not include the paint or adhesives needed for assembly.
