1/48 F-4C PHANTOM II WILD WEASEL IV
Zoukei Mura SWS48-16 1/48 F-4C Phantom II "Wild Weasel IV" is a plastic kit of the early specialized version of the Americanfighter aircraft designed to suppress enemy air defenses (SEAD). This variant, referred to as the "Wild Weasel IV", was deployed during the Vietnam War and laid the groundwork for later, even more advanced versions of the Phantom designed to hunt radar. The 1/48 scale model offers detailed construction, cockpit and equipment following the "Super Wing Series" philosophy.
The "Wild Weasel" program was created in the 1960s in response to the growing threat of Soviet air defense systems. The mission of these specialized aircraft was to seek out, jam and destroy radar stations and surface-to-air missile guidance systems. The F-4C Phantom II "Wild Weasel IV" was created by modifying the standard F-4C fighter version to incorporate radar detection and jamming equipment.
Aircraft of this version operated during the Vietnam War, where they operated in extremely dangerous air defense environments. Wild Weasel crews flew in tandem with bombers and attack aircraft, with the mission of "provoking" radar systems into activation and then destroying them with AGM-45 Shrike anti-radar missiles. It was the deployment of the F-4C Wild Weasel IV that laid the groundwork for later versions of the F-4G, which became a legend in SEAD operations.
The 1/48th scale Zoukei Mura "Super Wing Series" kit features precision craftsmanship of the fuselage, cockpit, electronic systems and armament. It features realistic instrument panel details, Wild Weasel-specific sensors, pylons for Shrike and Sidewinder missiles, and elaborate J79 engines. The model allows for an authentic replica of one of the USAF's most important aircraft from the Vietnam War and the transition to specialized anti-radar units.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
