1/48 F-4C PHANTOM II

The McDonnell Douglas F-4C Phantom II was the first version of this legendary machine adapted to U.S. Air Force requirements. The aircraft was built as a modification of the F-4B naval variant, receiving new avionics, modified controls and the ability to carry a wide range of air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons. The first F-4C units entered service in 1963 and two years later became involved in combat operations in Vietnam.

The Phantom II became one of the most powerful and versatile aircraft of its time. Its twin General Electric J79 engines allowed it to reach speeds of over Mach 2, and its armament consisted of AIM-7 Sparrow missiles, AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, bombs, and cannon containers. The F-4C proved itself not only as a fighter, but also as a combat and reconnaissance aircraft. Its durability, power and distinctive silhouette made it an icon of the US Air Force of the 1960s and 1970s.
